Michael Rekas, LMT
With over 11 years of experience providing therapeutic massage, Michael has crafted a signature bodywork style focused on pain relief and deep relaxation.
The health intake is thorough, so he understands some of the experiences that have shaped the function of your body, what you do on a daily basis, where you hurt or have limited range of motion, and what expectations you have about massage. His therapeutic style of massage incorporates warming-up muscle groups with traditional Swedish techniques and actively engaging the relaxation response, so more focused Deep Tissue and Trigger-point therapy is better received by the body. There are also added elements of stretching, traction and myofascial release techniques, an environment conducive to relaxation, and subtle energy work to bring it all together. |
Michael is a 2012 graduate of the Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington, DC. He opened his first practice right out of school in Northern Virginia, then relocated to Richmond, VA where he practiced for seven years, and finally landing in Marion, VA to get away from the hustle bustle and more in touch with his natural surroundings.
With a holistic, heart-centered approach, Michael begins massage sessions with a thorough health consultation and evaluation to determine body-history, desired outcomes and appropriate therapy, while providing realistic time frames on achieving health goals and optimum results.
Some of Michael’s wellness & life interests include plant-based nutrition and medicine, growing his own food, cannabis cultivation, aromatherapy and essential oils, yoga, meditation, creative visualization, tarot, gemstones, and crystals. His personal hobbies include hiking, listening and making music, organic gardening, video games, nature photography, spending time near water bodies, and being a good cat dad.
